About
During my internship at T-Xchange, I’ve been working full-time as a game artist for serious games. Most of the time I did (concept) art for their CoDesign Game Suite. In this serious game designed for companies, people must work together in groups to answer questions. A team of experts then gives points and feedback to the teams. The questions can be about company strategies and business models and the game can organise them as if they are part of a business model canvas.
“A submarine adventure” would be the main graphical theme for this game. It was my task to come up with interesting designs for the game’s main login, score and overview screens. Therefore, I studied submarine designs and worked on thematic graphics for these screens, designed for a casual audience. I also designed some characters for this game, including a parrot that introduces the player to the game and the charismatic chef character.
My biggest learning goal was to get my sketches right when it comes to perspective, meaning of items, feeling of depth, centre of gravity, etc. Besides sketches I also made the final graphics in Illustrator and animated them within Flash, getting them ready for the game developing pipeline. I also learned to work with texture atlasses and learned quite a bit about game design.
